A very warm welcome to you!

Before you work with me, I’d love to share a little about myself, so you know the person behind the picture. My story is one full of ups and downs, straight paths and curveballs, but one that I’m proud of and which I embrace completely. I’m one of five children, born here in Australia to Vietnamese parents. They fled the Vietnam War on a boat and called Australia home in 1982. I grew up in a busy household, always surrounded by my parents, siblings, and various aunts, uncles and cousins. You’d be amazed how many people could fit into our house at any one time!

I’d describe my family as dynamic, close and driven. We did well in school, and even after my father’s passing when I was 14, I continued to focus on my studies and dream of becoming a dentist. I succeeded at that dream, graduating from university in 2013 and practising dentistry for 7 years.

"Health is wealth"

I believe every human is unique.

I believe every human has an authentic self that’s calling out to be realised.

I believe every human has a role to play and a contribution to make to our world.

I believe every human has internal resources waiting to be harnessed and deployed.

I believe every human has the right to flourish in their relationships, in their families, in their work, in their communities, in their life.

"Self-care isn’t selfish"

Through a range of personal challenges, I made the difficult decision to leave clinical dentistry after realising that it no longer aligned with my purpose and goals. What followed was a personal journey like no other, where I met inspiring people, grew in ways I hadn’t anticipated, and saw my heart and mind expand time and time again. Then came the COVID-19 pandemic, which, like for so many, added an extra layer of complexity to the journey.

As my teacher always used to say, Positive Psychology is not a spectator sport. You need to get in the arena, but that doesn’t mean you need to play it alone. I’m committed to being your guide on the side, supporting you in understanding and accessing your internal resources, the keys to cultivating your most authentic, aligned, and fulfilled life.

If you’re ready to walk this journey together, please reach out. I’d love to connect with you.

With Warmth,

Dr Anh Makkar
